Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co (WLG) has boosted its corporate capability with the appointment of a nine-strong team of lawyers from Gowlings (UK).

Most of the group, led by corporate finance partner Charles Bond, will be based in the firm’s London office but banking and finance partner Nick Iliff will be joining the firm’s Birmingham office at Two Snowhill.

Mr Iliff’s particular expertise is in project finance and real estate finance.

Head of WLG’s corporate finance and private capital group Hugh Maule said: “We’re very pleased to welcome our new colleagues. The added ballast their arrival brings to our existing capability reinforces our strength and positioning in our markets, notably in AIM and ECM work.

“We acted on the first AIM IPO 20 years ago and we continue to remain at the top of the tables for AIM clients by Market Capitalisation (ARL Adviser Ranking guide).

“Our existing AIM and wider ECM practice is therefore an excellent fit for the new team, which focuses on corporate, banking and equity capital markets, as well as the significant expertise and experience that both firms have in the mining and oil & gas sectors.”

Mr Iliff has joined the Birmingham office in August but the majority of the team joined WLG’s 4 More London office on September 21, ahead of the firm’s forthcoming combination with Canadian firm Gowlings in January 2016.
