A new partner has been appointed in the Birmingham office of Freeths.

Nigel Gardner joins the team in Colmore Circus from DWF where he headed up the commercial department in the city.

In his new role, he will focus on helping grow Freeths' commercial offering in Birmingham and work across the commercial and intellectual property teams.

Having practised law in Birmingham for more than 15 years, Mr Gardner has extensive expertise in commercial contracts, with a particular focus on hospitality, outsourcing and supply chain agreements.

He also regularly advises on the exploitation and protection of intellectual property and music contracts.

In his time at DWF, he worked on a number of major projects, including advising a leading parcel delivery company on an £80 million logistics contract and acting for a provider of social media services on contracts with brands including ITV, Disney and EE.

Prior to joining DWF, Mr Gardner worked at Cobbetts in Birmingham before its acquisition by DWF in 2013.

Managing partner in Birmingham Richard Beverley said: "It's great to have Nigel on board.

"He is a hugely experienced solicitor and a very well respected figure in the West Midlands market.

"His expertise will complement and add to the team we already have in place in Birmingham and I'm confident that he will hit the ground running."

Mr Gardner added: "I'm confident my experience working in logistics and hospitality will add to the already comprehensive offer the team here can make to clients."
