DLA Piper has acted for digital outdoor advertiser Ocean Group on the leasing of three interactive advertising boards above Birmingham’s redeveloped New Street Station.
Using state-of-the-art technology the three full motion digital screens, dubbed ‘media eyes’, will play targeted content to passers by.
The DLA Piper team, led by real estate partner Paul Jayson, acted on complex contractual arrangements between Network Rail and Birmingham City Council, both of whom have an interest in the site.
Stephen Joseph, COO at Ocean Group, said: “Our media eyes with Network Rail not only represent the latest in technology and innovation but is a great example of our ability to work with the complex needs of local authorities and other public bodies.
“The DLA team were instrumental in guiding the contractual intricacies to ensure that all risk factors were delivered equitably to both parties.
“Their ability to understand the unique nature of our commercial deals meant that our landlord’s advisors were fully informed and were able to conclude matters swiftly.”
Mr Jayson said: “This is not only a huge development for the Birmingham City Region but highlights the extent to which interactive technology is gradually becoming part of our everyday lives.
“Ocean Group is a longstanding client of the firm and we congratulate them on continuing to set the pace of innovation.”
The DLA Piper team also included associate Roos Van Roemburg.
