Midland law firm mfg Solicitors has appointed land development expert Paul Mountain to its commercial property department.

Mr Mountain, a construction and regeneration specialist, has joined the firm as a legal consultant from the Birmingham office of SGH Martineau.

Based at mfg’s Kidderminster headquarters, he will develop the spread of mfg’s commercial property services – spearheading growth in the construction industry where over a 25-year career he has acted on behalf of clients for building projects in the further education, renewables and social enterprise sectors.

The 54-year-old will also advise businesses and charities on commercial contracts and funding agreements, working with partner and corporate finance specialist, Peter Copsey.

Justin Parker, partner and head of mfg’s commercial property division, said: “Paul is a top quality lawyer and a superb addition to our nine-strong commercial property team.

“He is already making a great impression with clients and importantly, is using his experience in development and regeneration projects to bring some exciting new clients to the firm.

“Paul’s reputation is of the highest calibre and I am delighted he is part of the team.”

Mr Mountain, added: “I relish being part of mfg’s commercial property department. Over the past few years the team has grown considerably and has built a formidable reputation across the region for its handling of all corporate and commercial matters.

“I am looking forward to using my own experience so we can achieve even more this year, both as a department and a firm.”

Aside from universities and colleges, Mr Mountain’s clients include heritage trusts, universities and colleges, and a range of not-for-profit organisations. He is also a non-executive director of Birmingham choir Ex Cathedra.
