DBS Law is set to move beyond its Birmingham city centre confines with the acquisition of Bearwood high street firm Hearne & Co.

The firm of solicitors said the aim of the merger was to combine the customer service and local knowledge of the high street with the weight and resources of a big city practice.

It added that it was ‘going local’ after market research indicated there was public demand for such a service.

Specialising in conveyancing and wills and probate, Hearne & Co has served the community of Bearwood for more than 30 years. DBS Law will now be bringing additional legal services, family, employment and business law to local people from the Poplar Road office.

DBS Law chief executive Rob Bhol said: “We’ve been convinced by extensive research that people are more comfortable accessing legal services from a real place rather than a virtual one.

“Even if they don’t have time to come into the office very often knowing it’s there is still reassuring. We think local offices will be a major improvement in the future.

“Hearne and Co are a perfect partner for us, well established with their finger on the pulse of the local community.”

Roger Hearne from Hearne & Co added: “We are very excited to be joining with such a strong and forward thinking firm. As well as its legal services DBS Law has a proud tradition of supporting community projects.”

DBS Law turned over £5.5 million in 2012 and is the first company from the region to be a patron of The Prince’s Trust.
