Law firm GloverPriest Solicitors has completed the acquisition of Tamworth-based Argyles Solicitors.
Argyles, believed to be one of the oldest law firms in the country, provides a range of services, including family, employment and conveyancing.
GloverPriest, founded by Gavin Glover and Martin Priest in 2010, currently employs more than 50 members of staff who work across practice areas including litigation, personal injury and wills and probate.
The two firms met through a mutual accountant and began detailed negotiations at the beginning of the year.
The addition of Argyles will bring GloverPriest’s portfolio of offices to seven, adding to operations in King Heath, Quinton, Stourbridge, Cradley Heath, Acocks Green and Wellingborough.
Argyles will continue to operate using its established name, having traded for more than 250 years in the region.
All the partners, solicitors and support staff have been retained at the Tamworth office.
To complete the deal, the firm’s premise was bought after GloverPriest secured a funding package from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.
