Birmingham-based mutual Wesleyan has appointed Ian Copley as head of sales for its medical north team.
Mr Copley will lead a team of 94 financial consultants and seven area managers in the North of England, providing advice and products to meet the needs of medical professionals.
He is a Chartered Financial Planner and a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, who brings more than 25 years’ industry experience to his new role.
He comes to Wesleyan from Prudential Financial Planning, where he was regional director and interim sales director.
Mr Copley’s career has also included spells at Coutts, Bank of Scotland Investment Service and Equitable Life Assurance Society.
He said: “This is a really exciting opportunity to apply the experience I have built up over the course of my career to help Wesleyan achieve its growth ambitions.
“I was attracted to the role by Wesleyan’s great heritage, financial strength and its mutual status.
“It is a specialist with an in-depth knowledge of the professions it serves that puts the customer at the heart of what it does, working to create tailored solutions for their commercial and personal financial needs.
“I have also been impressed with the level of support Wesleyan gives its financial consultants, which means they have much more time to focus on building their relationships with customers and keep on top of the issues affecting them, such as changes to the NHS pension scheme.”
Alan Jones, managing director of Wesleyan Financial Services, said: “We are in the process of growing our business and increasing our presence in our chosen markets.
“Ian’s vast experience will be invaluable in helping us to develop our sales teams to offer optimum service to our customers.”
