Business and finance adviser Grant Thornton is building on its manufacturing expertise with the promotion of sector specialist Neil Barrell to partner after three years with the firm.

Before joining Grant Thornton, Mr Barrell held a number of senior positions in manufacturing businesses.

Experienced in both strategic and operational management, he has also led a number of company turnarounds, acquisitions and relocations.

In the last three years, Mr Barrell has advised a number of global original equipment manufacturers and tier 1 suppliers.

His first year culminated in taking a lead advisory role to Chinese car maker Geely Automotive Holdings on its acquisition of Coventry-based Manganese Bronze, manufacturers of London Taxis.

In addition to his promotion, Mr Barrell has also been made Grant Thornton's national head of operations consulting.
