Financial services firm Grant Thornton has appointed a new partner in its Birmingham office.

Mark Stocks has been promoted in the public sector team, having joined Grant Thornton in 2012 from the Audit Commission.

He has more than 25 years' experience working with public sector bodies, specialising in health and local government.

Mr Stocks is also head of the firm's 70-strong public sector assurance practice in the Midlands and leads Grant Thornton's health group nationally.

His healthcare expertise includes strategy development, performance management, governance and risk management, working with foundation trusts such as Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, NHS trusts and clinical commissioning groups across the Midlands.

David Hillan, practice leader for Grant Thornton in Birmingham, said: "Mark's promotion to partner is well-deserved and reinforces Grant Thornton's continued commitment to our growing portfolio of public sector clients across the region.

"From talking with those clients, we know that Mark and his team's breadth and depth of expertise add a huge amount of value, supporting them in their goals to create trusted, sustainable public services, which in turn help to support and create a vibrant economy."
