Derek Carter has joined the Birmingham office of accountancy firm Mazars as personal tax senior manager.

He specialises in dealing with the personal tax affairs of individuals, having worked in the sector for 35 years.

Mr Carter, whose career includes 15 years with Ernst & Young (now EY), made the move from Grant Thornton where he had spent 12 years.

A member of the Association of Tax Technicians, Mr Carter was born and brought up in Birmingham, being educated at Saltey Grammar School.

He said: “Mazars has a deservedly strong reputation for provision of tax, estate planning and wealth structuring advice for wealthy individuals, entrepreneurs and their companies.

“It has regularly featured as one of the 50 most influential in the private client advisory field. And it is going from strength to strength.”
