KPMG Enterprise has appointed a new partner and director at its Midlands practice as it reaches the end of its first year.
The new recruits are Steve Ward and Nick Mottram, both of whom will be based out of KPMG’s Birmingham office.
KPMG Enterprise was launched in October 2014 with the aim of becoming the ‘advisor of choice’ for privately-owned businesses.
Since then the Midlands team has grown to almost thirty people, who focus on increasing the firm’s expertise and client service offering within the mid-market.
Partner Mr Ward comes to KPMG from BDO, where he was head of audit for Birmingham.
At BDO he was instrumental in building up the office’s mid-market client base, with a focus on fast-growing, entrepreneurial clients.
Director Mr Mottram is a chartered accountant and KPMG alumnus, who initially joined KPMG’s management consulting team in 2001, specialising in operational transformation.
In 2012 he left to set up his own consulting and accounting business in Birmingham, until the opportunity to re-join the firm arose with KPMG Enterprise.
Mr Mottram will lead the team’s consulting operation with a focus on operations, people, technology and growth.
Both will work alongside colleagues within the Midlands KPMG Enterprise team to understand clients’ needs and priorities and bring in subject matter experts from KPMG. Both will also be responsible for seeking out new clients within the mid-market.
Their appointments follow the appointment of Graham Nicoll from Barclays to a director role within KPMG Enterprise, and the appointment of five ambassadors.
Stephen Craik, partner and head of KPMG Enterprise in the Midlands, said: “We’ve always said that our aim is to recruit the best in the market, if they don’t already work for us, and that’s what we’re doing with Steve and Nick.
“Their reputation and connections within the Midlands enterprise market are second to none, and both bring rich experience and insight into the mid-market, which will add real value to the team and to our clients.
“I am very proud of the growth the KPMG Enterprise team in the Midlands has seen over the past year.
“We’ve been able to help our clients, existing and new, to respond to the needs and challenges of their business and environment.
“The growth of the mid-market is vital to the Midlands and wider UK economy and we’re working hard to be an enabler of that growth.”
