A partner with a Birmingham accountancy firm is retiring after more than three decades of service.

Paul Jones is has worked for Edgbaston-based JW Hinks after 36 years, having joined in 1980 after completing his training with national firm Deloitte, Haskins and Sells.

Just two years after starting with the practice, Mr Jones was promoted to partner and has spent his career advising clients on a wide range of issues including compliance and corporate finance work.

He followed in the footsteps of his father Deryck who was a partner at the firm for a number of decades as well.

Mr Jones said: "I am sad to be leaving so many of my colleagues at JW Hinks having spent so many years of my life working closely with them.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a partner but I am now looking forward to having more time to spend with my family and friends.

"I would like to thank all of the staff and partners at JW Hinks for the fond memories that I will be taking with me."

Managing partner Neal Aston added: "Paul has played an important part in the success of the firm, just like his father before him, and he will be sorely missed.

"He has dedicated over 35 years to the practice and, under his leadership as managing partner from 2008 to 2015, Paul successfully led the mergers with Austral Ryley and Mason Law.

"Everyone at JW Hinks would like to wish Paul the very best for the future and we hope he enjoys his retirement."
