Grant Thornton has been recognised as Accountancy Firm of the Year in the Larger Clients category at the annual FDs’ Excellence Awards.

Shortlisted amongst industry peers, Grant Thornton took home the top prize marking the third time in the last five years the firm has won the accolade.

Held in association with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and supported by the CBI, the awards recognise the UK’s brightest FDs and financial service providers.

Determined by the results of an annual Satisfaction Survey completed by 1,300 finance decision-makers, Grant Thornton was voted as Accountancy Firm of the Year for its work with large clients – defined as companies with an annual turnover in excess of £25 million.

Scott Barnes, CEO of Grant Thornton UK, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded Accountancy Firm of the Year for our work with larger clients.

“The past year has seen our audit practice continue to grow and develop relationships with some of the UK’s leading large and mid-sized organisations.

“Encouraged by recognition such as this award, we’re undoubtedly in a great position to continue on this successful path.”

Birmingham-based Dave Munton, regional managing partner added: “Being ranked number one for client service amongst all the UK’s leading accounting firms is clearly testament to the outstanding work of our people.

“It also shows Grant Thornton is delivering the difference that leading UK businesses are looking for.

“In Birmingham, this fact is very noticeable in the number, scope and scale of new opportunities we are winning and the resultant growth evident across our audit, tax and advisory services.”

Grant Thornton was also recently named Global Firm of the Year at the British Accountancy Awards.
