Business and finance adviser Grant Thornton has boosted its leadership team with the promotion of Sue Knight and Becky Eagle to partner.

In her new role Ms Knight will lead Grant Thornton’s 16-strong award-winning private client team in Birmingham, working with the region’s high and ultra high net worth individuals and their families.

Named in 2013 by Tax Journal as one of 40 leading UK tax professionals under 40, Ms Knight has a masters degree in taxation and is also a qualified mentor and coach.

She said: “Grant Thornton’s entrepreneurial and private client team in Birmingham is continuing to grow rapidly, achieving a 20 per cent increase in revenues in the last financial year, investing in several promotions and recruiting a new associate director. The team has had another successful year built, I believe, on providing exceptional client service and a strong focus on developing our people not only to be outstanding technically but also all-round business advisers.”

Ms Eagle joined Grant Thornton’s audit team in 2012 and is a specialist in advising mid-sized and large privately-owned and listed companies on their growth strategies.

She said: “I am extremely proud of what we have achieved within our audit team in the last few years and I know that this view is shared by some of the fantastic people that we have recruited.

“We know companies today are looking for so much more than an audit opinion and having a deep understanding of our clients’ businesses is the key to our success.”

Birmingham-based Dave Munton, regional managing partner, added: “Sue and Becky are truly representative of the Grant Thornton approach: they are both extremely enthusiastic about developing sustainable business relationships, dedicated to understanding their clients’ goals and providing them with practical advice in order to achieve them.

“They both thoroughly deserve their promotions to partner.”
