The Birmingham office of business and finance adviser Grant Thornton has appointed Blake Thomas as head of business development.

Mr Thomas, who has more than 10 years’ experience in professional services, joins Grant Thornton from insurance provider to the accountancy sector Abbey Tax Protection, where he was regional account manager for the Midlands and East Anglia.

He previously set up and managed RSM Tenon’s business development team in the South West.

Prior to that Mr Thomas worked with global training provider Kaplan, developing new business channels for its professional development programmes.

Grant Thornton partner David White said: “Blake’s appointment is the latest investment in Grant Thornton’s growing business in Birmingham and the West Midlands and complements the appointment last year of Nicola Haldane, head of client care.

“He comes with a proven track record of business development using a consultancy approach, which is completely in sync with the firm’s culture of working closely with ambitious companies to unlock their potential for growth.”

Mr Thomas added: “Grant Thornton has a well-deserved reputation in the market as an innovative business growth adviser.

“I’m very excited by the prospect of talking with directors and owners of businesses across the region keen to take their companies to the next stage, whether that means expansion in the UK or overseas, when we use the Grant Thornton International network to great effect.”
