The Epwin Group has been cleared by the Competition Commission to go ahead with its merger with Latium businesses.

The firm, an extruder of PVC-u and PVC-ue products, has Midland businesses in Birmingham, Kidderminster, Upton-upon-Severn, Tamworth and Telford.

It employs more than 2,400 staff across the UK.

The company welcomed the move saying it would offer “sustainable job stability for its workforce”.

Chairman Jim Rawson said: “This is good news. We are very pleased to receive clearance from the Competition Commission; the investigation has been both exhaustive and thorough.

“Business is tough and we have to work hard but we look forward to developing the opportunities that are available for products and services within the enlarged group.”

The Epwin Group has a strong presence in the trade, retail, new build and social housing markets.

The firm was advised by both Pinsent Masons and KPMG in Birmingham.
