Birmingham start-ups Spearhead and The Space have won £2,000 each after pitching themselves to a panel of judges at the Entrepreneuring Awards.

The gongs are organised by the business Hatchery, Entrepreneurial Spark, powered by NatWest, and partner KPMG.

Firms based at Entrepreneurial Spark’s Birmingham Hatchery picked up £25,000 in prizes after pitching their business ideas.

Spearhead and The Space won the Pitching Competition category and Spearhead also won a further £7,000.

The firms are among dozens already receiving free space in Entrepreneurial Spark’s business incubator in Birmingham, which includes a range of advice, support and mentoring.

Jim Duffy, chief executive of Entrepreneurial Spark, said: “This has been a wonderful celebration of the spirit of entrepreneuring, which is a phrase we coined to denote the Go-Do attitude and desire to bring about positive change for themselves and others that characterises the brilliant businesspeople that we support.

"My congratulations to all the winners across our Hatcheries across the UK.”
