Increased demand for virtual accountancy services is behind a recruitment drive which has seen a dozen new staff appointed at Solihull-based Prime Accountants.

Prime, which also has an office in Coventry, has taken on 12 new staff since January, with a particular focus on its outsourced accountancy service.

The recruitment drive follows more than 80 new client wins since the beginning of the year and Prime says it sees the growth continuing due to increased demand for virtual accountancy services, particularly from SMEs.

Prime tailors options to suit any size of business and data is stored securely in cloud-based software, enabling up-to-the-minute information to be shared with clients, and vice-versa.

Laurence Moore, chairman at Prime, said: “This is a really exciting time for Prime, as we experience steady business growth, enabling us to take on more staff as a result.

“By investing in cloud-based technologies, we are better placed to help support clients who want to spend more time running their business than chasing invoices.

“Often the in-house bookkeeping role is carried out by one individual, which can lead to inconsistency and the business missing out on potential efficiencies.

“For instance, a frequent turnover of staff can affect record keeping, while someone who has been working in the same way for a long time may be less open to new technologies.”

Mr Moore added: “Virtual accountancy offers SMEs access to a team of experts who benefit from a breadth of experience, gained from working with a range of businesses.

“As an accountancy firm, we are also better placed to research and implement the latest processes and technologies, making life easier for SMEs.

“At the same time, a virtual accountancy office is completely scalable, allowing us to evolve our service as the scope of a business develops.”
