West Midlands accountancy firm Baldwins has expanded its national footprint again with another acquisition in the North East.
The practice, which is headquartered in Walsall, has bought chartered accountants and business advisers Evolution in an undisclosed deal.
Evolution has offices in Newcastle and Wynyard and the acquisition has boosted the group's payroll to 550 staff.
Baldwins, which also has operations in Coventry, Stourbridge and Tamworth, said the move was part of its national expansion plans for 2016 and follows another recent deal to buy North East firm Rowlands Accountants.
Director John Baldwin said: "Rowlands has given us an exceptional start in the North East and now we have the confidence to further invest in the region with Evolution, continuing to build on the excellent brand of both firms.
"We're thrilled to be joining forces with Evolution in the North East, this give us greater opportunity to utilise our specialist services across the region.
"We now have around 200 staff in seven offices across the region from Alnwick to Wynyard.
"By having such a varied geographical spread, we are developing an invaluable network that will enable businesses in and around surrounding areas to connect with other entrepreneurs further afield in the region.
"We are looking to invest further in the area in the coming months which underlines our faith in the strong business community and local economy."
Martin Barber, managing partner at Evolution, added: "Since Evolution was created six years ago from a management buyout, we have grown consistently and doubled our workforce.
"Becoming part of the Baldwins Group will allow us to bring our fresh, dynamic approach to an even wider audience. This is very much the next chapter in the development of our business."
