Two Birmingham-based media agencies have joined forces to broaden the range of services they offer.

Sutton Coldfield integrated marketing agency WAA has merged with Moseley-based brand activation specialist Chosen Communications.

The deal will see Chosen relocate from its current base to join staff at WAA's headquarters but it will continue trading under the Chosen brand.

The new-look company now employs circa 75 staff but three central support roles have been made redundant as a result of the merger with recruitment under way for five new posts.

WAA Group chief executive Andrew Wilson said he believed the merger offered a great opportunity to both agencies.

He said: "There is a huge amount of synergy between the two organisations and we really see this as very beneficial to both offerings.

"Having the best balance of skills, expertise and experience within the group has always been WAA's aim and Chosen certainly adds to that greatly.

"This move will significantly strengthen the offering of both agencies."

Chosen's chairman Jon Derry added: "This is a strategically important development for Chosen as WAA Group will give the team access to top expertise in areas such as digital, content and PR provision.

"This reflects the increasing needs of our UK and International client base and will allow us to provide even better brand activation solutions to our clients, so their brands continue to be chosen more often."
