A fledging software development company has produced an official game for the French Football Federation ahead of next month's World Cup in Brazil.

Team Football, which is based at the Innovation Birmingham Campus, has produced 'Official Equipe de France' under license for the federation meaning it can use the names and likenesses of World Cup squad players such as Franck Ribéry and Karim Benzema.

It will be released next month on iOS, Android and Windows 8 for phones and tablets and will cost £1.99.

The company, which was founded in October, is also due to launch football games for China and Japan with further similar announcements expected over the summer.

Co-founder and creative director Steve Huckle told the Post: "This is a traditional football game with a slightly retro look and a bit old school with 3D graphics, how games used to look many years ago.

"The game will be available to buy in France and some African countries and carries all the official branding of the French Football Federation such as their logo and players.

"We've also got commentary from John Motson on some of our other games as well."

Team Football uses a team of freelance developers and marketing staff but Mr Huckle said his long-term aim was to build a large, permanent studio in Birmingham.

The company is based in Innovation Birmingham's Entrepreneurs for the Future centre and is one of the latest technology start-ups to enrol in its incubation business support programme.

Mr Huckle has previously worked for game companies Jagex in Cambridge and Core Design in Derby which produced the Tomb Raider series.

He added: "We chose to launch in Birmingham because it's a great, central location and there is support all around the city.

"We're using Faraday Wharf as a hot desking space but it is very much our long-term aim to have our own studio.

"To be part of the growth going on right now is a great opportunity for us and we've already received financial support from Creative England with more due later this year to work on our next game.

"It will help us develop and launch our next game as we have some exciting things in the pipeline."
