The much-troubled local TV station for Birmingham and the West Midlands is relaunching tomorrow under the 'Made in' name.

Big Centre TV stop broadcasting last Friday after 18 months of operation following its merger with Made Television last month.

Called 'Made in Birmingham', it will start broadcasting tomorrow evening at 6pm, launching a new chapter in the life of the troubled local TV project.

Made Television is already broadcasting TV channels in Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds and Tyne and Wear and says it will air more than 40 hours of first-run original local programming each week, including 23 hours in peak time.

Chief executive Jamie Conway said: "The West Midlands is a vibrant and exciting region and a great platform for creating programming that will inspire and engage our viewers.

"We're looking forward to unveiling some of our new shows for the first time on Tuesday."

Big Centre TV eventually hit the airwaves in February 2015 but not before it suffered a very difficult birth.

In 2012, City TV piped Made Television among others to win the bid from the Government to licence a new local TV station and was due to launch it in November 2014 as 'City 8'.

In August 2014, the company fell into administration with debts of more than £170,000 and was eventually taken over by a new team called Kaleidoscope TV, led by former ATV presenter Mike Prince.

Mr Prince is staying on in the new set up and will present the first show to be aired on Made in Birmingham, a city news programme called #BirminghamNews.

This will be followed by nightly magazine show The Lowdown Birmingham, led by local residents George Hancorn, Taffy Mushipe and Richard Gullick.

Some shows will be shared from across the Made in network.
