Worcestershire PR agency Liquid has been named the region's top consultancy at an annual award ceremony.

The 'DARE' awards, run by the Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA), recognise excellence in PR and communication in both agency and in-house teams across nine categories.

Liquid was founded a decade ago and now has a team of about 15 based in Stoke Prior near Bromsgrove, London, Jersey and Guernsey.

Chief executive Lis Lewis-Jones said: "The quality of both our clients and team have helped Liquid grow considerably in the last few years.

"It's fitting that, in our 10th year, we should win such a prestigious award, I'm absolutely thrilled."

Other winners at 2014 Midlands awards were Slimming World, based in Derbyshire, which was named in-house team of the year.

Sutton Coldfield-based WAA took home the live, launched and loud category, for its 3D printer launch for Maplin, and also the technology, trade and B2B category for its best darting tradesman campaign for Gibbs & Dandy.

The Midlands arm of UK agency McCann, based in Solihull, was also a double winner.

It took home the campaign category for its MacMillan Tree of Light initiative and media marketing and measurement for its driving property investment campaign for EstatesDirect.

Lincolnshire County Council was recognised in the public and third sector category for the 'Bringing County News to Life!' campaign.

Birmingham-based Willoughby won the consumer relations category for its 'Savour Your Sundays' campaign while Telford-based animal charity PDSA ran a 'Vote that Counts' initiative, named digital and social campaign of the year.

PRCA director general Francis Ingham said: "I'd like to commend all of the winners of this year's DARE Awards Midlands.

"Our judges have seen a wealth of PR talent and some highly commendable and innovative campaigns."

The awards were held last night at the REP theatre in Birmingham.
