An app which aims to take the hassle out of laundry and dry cleaning has launched in Birmingham.

Laundrapp was founded in 2014 and began operations earlier this year since when it has become available in more than 25 towns and cites across the UK.

It provides an on-demand laundry and dry-cleaning service in which users download the free app and then request their clothing to be collected, cleaned and delivered to locations in participant towns and cities.

The company uses a hand-picked networked of partners to deliver the service.

Co-founder and chief executive Edward Relf said: "Laundrapp is turning an entire multi billion-pound laundry industry on its head and launching across the Birmingham area is both a thrilling and exciting challenge.

"We set out to completely revolutionise the laundry and dry cleaning industry and my head is spinning with the success and growth we're experiencing."

The privately owned company previously raised £4 million in investment to support the business which said the app had been downloaded more than 100,000 times in the nine months since launching.

It was founded by London-based entrepreneurs led by Mr Relf, who was previously a senior executive at Mind Candy, the company behind Moshi Monsters.

Joining him are Antony Pink, who was previously a strategy consultant at consultancy and outsourcing group Accenture, and Nick Bransby-Williams who worked at e-commerce company Sooqini.
