National property and construction consultancy Wakemans has been appointed by intellectual property attorneys Barker Brettell LLP to advise on its relocation to prestigious offices in Edgbaston.

Calthorpe Estates is investing £10.5million in a redevelopment of 100 Hagley Road to provide Grade A office space and Wakemans is acting as tenant’s agent on the shell build aspect of the scheme. The consultancy is also employed as project manager, quantity surveyor and CDM co-ordinator for the fit-out, which will get underway as soon as the shell works are finished.

Barker Brettell LLP is consolidating its Birmingham operation by taking four floors of 100 Hagley Road. All staff, who were previously split between the firm’s two sites at 138 Hagley Road and Harborne Court, will relocate to the landmark building conveniently situated at one of the Birmingham’s main gateways.

Principal contractor Shaylor Construction is on site and scheduled to complete the BREEAM Very Good development by October.

“This move will provide an improved working environment and deliver key operating efficiencies while also meeting Barker Brettell’s future expansion requirements,” said Wakemans associate director Steve Gascoyne. As well as monitoring the shell build and managing the fit-out, we are also closely involved in move management for the client and appraisal of new furniture solutions to ensure Barker Brettell’s transition is as smooth as possible with minimum disruption to the business.”
