A Victorian police station soon to be surplus to requirements has been brought to market.

The 20,000 sq ft Bromsgrove Police Station will close in May when a new combined fire and police station opens in Slideslow Drive.

The station stands on a 0.7-acre site in The Crescent, close to Bromsgrove town centre, and is originally Victorian with modern extensions and a large car park.

Independent consultancy GJS Dillion has been appointed by West Mercia Police to market the building and said it expected to attract interest from developers in the residential and retirement sectors.

Partner John Dillon said: "This is well located site, next to a modern residential development and high quality refurbished offices, and close to the town centre.

"We expect interest from parties who will look to completely redevelop the site, as well as from those interested in refurbishing and re-using some or all of the existing buildings, parts of which date back to the Victorian era.

"As a local business, it is particularly exciting to be marketing this site which will focus once again the attention of a number of high profile developers and investors on Bromsgrove."

Work on the new combined police and fire station began in October 2012 and is part of the Worcestershire Capital Asset Pathfinder initiative aimed at providing better local public services and value for money.
