New plans have been lodged to build two industrial units on a business park in south-east Staffordshire.

Birmingham-based regeneration group St Modwen is seeking permission to build 52,500 sq ft to 157,000 sq ft warehouses on Centurion Park in Tamworth after gaining outline consent for an extension to the park last summer.

Gloucester-based Roberts Limbrick Architects has submitted designs for the 20-acre plot for two speculative buildings with associated services, parking and offices.

Groundworks could begin as early as June to prepare the site for construction.

St Modwen completed the first phase of development in 1994 at Centurion Park, which is next to junction ten of the M42.

It is owned by multiple freeholders and fully let.

Jonathan Green, development surveyor at St. Modwen, said: "Centurion Park is one of the most sought after locations in the Midlands region due to its superb transport links.

"Following a recent number of transactions, the scheme is fully occupied.

"This lack of stock, combined with a strengthening market has enabled us to accelerate plans for our extension of Centurion Park.

"We are already receiving calls from interested parties which will in turn trigger employment opportunities for light industrial, storage and distribution industries.

"With the benefit of a detailed consent, we will be able to start to deliver new facilities in the summer."
