Property and construction consultancy Wakemans has added four new faces to its team in Birmingham.

Senior quantity surveyor Dave Muirhead brings more than 25 years' experience with a wide range of expertise across the public and private sector while quantity surveyor John Kavanagh has eight years' experience in commercial and infrastructure projects.

Senior project manager and quantity surveyor Lee Lloyd has experience of acting as employer's agent, contract administrator and fund surveyor while Alistair Smith is a graduate building surveyor.

Mr Smith is working on a variety projects as he moves towards his professional qualification with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Making up the new recruits is Samuel Russell who has joined the firm's Bristol office as a quantity surveyor.

Wakemans' managing director John Woodhall said: "We are experiencing a significant rise in demand for all of our services as construction activity continues to grow alongside the improvements in economic outlook."

In other appointment news, Bilfinger GVA has recruited Alex Marock to its building consultancy team based in Brindleyplace.

Mr Marock joins as an associate from the Birmingham office of property consultancy Knight Frank and his experience also includes roles at independent construction consultancies The Livemore Partnership and Baily Garner.

David Martin, senior director in the building consultancy team, said: "Alex's appointment is reflective of the upturn in the market which has led to a growing demand for project management work.

"This also plays into our wider drive to grow in every other area of Bilfinger GVA, most notably those that complement our strongest service lines."
