A West Midlands business park is set to grow by around ten per cent after London & Cambridge Properties unveiled plans to build new warehouse space.

The company is hoping to add up to 260,000 sq ft of warehousing and industrial accommodation to The Pensnett Estate in Kingswinford where it owns and manages 2.4 million sq ft.

An application for the first phase of the project has been lodged with Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council which comprises 130,000 sq ft of speculatively built warehousing in four blocks.

If given the go ahead, work could start towards the end of this year and be completed in late 2017.

LCP said it would develop plans for a second phase, also of around 130,000 sq ft, in due course.

Andrew Preston, industrial portfolio manager at LCP, said: "We have decided to press ahead with phase one of this speculative development due to void levels being so low on the estate and enquiries for businesses looking to relocate being encouragingly high."

The Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership has already helped to secure initial funding and is now working with LCP to obtain next stage funding to bring the site to market.

It will be the second recent speculative development LCP has built on the estate.

Two years ago, it opened the £1.5 million Progress Point, an industrial and warehouse development comprising 21,000 sq ft of warehouse and industrial space.
