An office building in Birmingham's business district has been bought for £35.6 million.

Kier Property, the property division of the Kier Group, has acquired 19 Cornwall Street from Standard Life Investments.

This is Kier Property's first commercial purchase in the West Midlands and its single biggest acquisition in 2017.

The seven-storey building is partially let to financial services firm PwC, which is due to relocate to One Chamberlain Square in the city centre Paradise development, and law firm Pinsent Masons.

Tom Gilman, managing director north for Kier Property, said: "This scheme will significantly strengthen our portfolio and activities in the West Midlands.

"We see the West Midlands as a key location for our expansion plans and we welcome further opportunities across all asset classes as well as joint venture opportunities."
