The second part of the former Sandwell College has been sold on behalf of the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA).

The Jalaliah Educational Trust has purchased the Grade II-listed building, in West Bromwich High Street, which will now be refurbished and used as a private secondary school as well as provide some community facilities.

Property consultancy JLL disposed of the first part of the former college site last year to the University of Wolverhampton which has started constructing a new technical college specialising in training young people to become healthcare workers.

JLL also acted on the deal with the Jalaliah Educational Trust.

Philip Farrell, associate director in the development consulting team, said: "This has been a long and complex disposal, taking a number of years to complete, however it's a good outcome for all parties to see this site continue in its long history of education.

"We have acted on behalf of the HCA on a number of disposals recently, all of which require sensitivity and often long consultation processes with local communities and third parties to agree on the best route forward."

JLL also recently disposed of the 2.2-acre Lex site on Walsall Waterfront on behalf of the HCA.

This was sold to Walsall Council which intends to build on the momentum created by the new cinema and restaurant development currently under construction on the adjacent site which itself was also facilitated by the HCA.
