The former home of a notorious massage parlour near Birmingham is going under the hammer next month.

495 Hagley Road, in Bearwood, was once the home of Bunnys Club but was eventually shut down by Sandwell Council.

The three-storey building is now one of the lots at an auction to be hosted by Edgbaston-based Cottons on December 3 and carries a guide price of £180,000 to £195,000.

The advert, whose pictures on the Cottons website clearly show items belonging to its former occupier, says: "The property forms part of a parade of similar units predominantly comprising of retail shops and takeaway premises.

"The property provides extensive accommodation benefiting from a substantial two-storey rear extension and may be suitable for a variety of alternate uses including residential flat conversion, retail and office."

Planning consent was granted by Sandwell Council in April 2014 for a change of use for the address from offices to a beauty clinic.

A spokesman for Cottons said the address was now owned by a private individual who had been plagued by poor tenants and was keen to sell it on.

The property and its neighbour at 497 Hagley Road, which is not part of the auction lot, has a chequered past.

That building operated as a brothel called Cuddles but was raided in September 2005 by police who rescued 19 women working there as prostitutes.

The owner of Cuddles, Carl Pritchett from Dudley, was sentenced to two years in prison in 2006 for running a brothel and in 2010 he was jailed for a further seven years after failing to repay £2 million in illegal gains.

In 2013, Cottons sold 497 Hagley Road for £205,000 as part of court order related to this £2 million owed by Pritchett.

The address had also housed Bunnys for a while before it moved next door to 495 Hagley Road.

Earlier this year, a temporary stop notice was handed to 497 Hagley Road for breaching planning regulations while trading as yet another massage parlour, this time called Bubbles and which had opened in late 2014.

The owner was operating outside the agreed planning consent for the address, that of a health and beauty salon.
