Real estate services firm DTZ has bolstered its project and building consultancy team in Birmingham with two new appointments.

Derek Lawrence has joined the Colmore Square-based company as director of building engineering services while Alan Vandrill is the firm's new senior surveyor.

Mr Lawrence has more than 16 years of experience in the design, installation and commissioning of services installations in most sectors.

He will be providing in-house consultancy advice and technical input on building services-related topics, including impact of the forthcoming Energy Act legislation.

A mechanical building services engineer by training, Mr Lawrence joins from Ove Arup & Partners where he spent ten years working on high profile schemes including Snowhill and the Paradise Circus redevelopment concept design.

Alan Vandrill will primarily be involved in building/acquisition surveys, preparation and negotiation of schedules of dilapidations, dilapidation assessments and condition surveys for clients including a range of NHS Trusts, corporate occupiers and landlords.

He previously ran his own surveying business where he worked on a range of projects for clients including West Midlands Police and Warwickshire County Council.

Andy Irvine, senior director in DTZ's project and building consultancy team, said: "We have identified a growing appetite to provide services which address our clients' requirements to improve the overall operational efficiency of their buildings and Derek and Alan's experience in delivering such projects will be invaluable. We are delighted to welcome them to the team."
