A hotel in the Sutton Coldfield countryside is set for a £2 million expansion.
Work has begun at Lea Marston Hotel on a scheme to increase in size by a fifth, create jobs and add 30 new bedrooms.
Lea Marston said the new rooms would be contemporary and feature interactive guest information and free wi fi.
Mark Blake, chairman of Lea Marston Hotel, said: “Starting the expansion of the hotel has been a milestone achievement for us and supports our vision of long-term growth.”
Mr Blake said the expansion comes on the back increased demand for rooms, and is supported by a £1.8 million loan from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.
Staffordshire-based Ilze Reinke Interiors will carry out some of the work.
Once complete, the expansion will see the hotel increase its square footage by 20 per cent and its capacity by 25 per cent, with 117 bedrooms available to guests.
The hotel, based on Haunch Lane, opened in 1991 and has an annual turnover of £5 million.
The latest work will create eight jobs, bringing the workforce up to 150.
