Diners at a motorsport-themed charity dinner on Friday will be able to bid for a chance to guest edit the Birmingham Post.
The successful bidder will spend time with the editorial team to see how the region's premier weekly paper is put together and enjoy a lunch with members of the team.
It is one of several prizes on offer at the event at Opus at Cornwall Street entitled Life in the Fast Line where the guest speaker will be former F1 driver and Le Mans winner David Brabham.
He will speak about his own career and that of his father, three-time F1 champion Sir Jack Brabham.
Birmingham Post editor Stacey Barnfield said: "The chance to be in the driving seat at a great paper like the Birmingham Post should attract plenty of interest for what are two great causes.
"There's no atmosphere like a busy newsroom when an exciting story breaks and we hope the winner's time with the Post will give them a great taster of life at a newspaper."
Among the other lots up for auction are a specially commissioned piece by artist Ian Cook, aka PopBangColour, who paints pictures using the wheels of remote-controlled cars (video below), an evening in the Opus at Cornwall Street kitchen, two tickets for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone as specials guests of the Brabhams and a tour of Aston Martin's factory in Warwickshire.
Proceeds from the evening will go towards Macmillan Cancer Support and the British Heart Foundation.
