With so much doom and gloom in the news over the last few months, September has certainly seem some positivity coming from the region.

A particular story which has and will continue to affect the West Midlands is the recent announcement from Jaguar Land Rover who have said that a staggering 1,700 new jobs are to be created in it’s Solihull factory as part of a £1.5billion investment in new technology.

One of the first models to be made as part of this investment will be a Jaguar sports sedan, due to launch in 2015.

This investment doesn’t just affect the greater Birmingham area though, as the new model will feature the first engine to be built at a new £500million Engine Manufacturing Factory located in the Black Country.

I wonder if they’re taking orders yet?

Surely this new job announcement is a sign of recovery and true investment in Greater Birmingham?

Whilst on the topic of new investment, I’d like to say a huge congratulations to the apple of Birmingham’s eye, the new Library of Birmingham which is celebrating its first milestone.

Within the first 7 days since opening, the Library has already welcomed its 100,000th visitor, a true testament to how the city and its people have embraced the ‘People’s Palace’.

This new facility is also affecting the success of local businesses as well.

Local hotels, including Hotel Indigo, restaurants and other visitor attractions have certainly seen a surge in bookings visitors over the past week as people from across the country plan their visit to see this marvel.

So, are things on the up for the UK’s second city? It would certainly seem so and long may it continue.
