Electrical and communications engineering services provider Vinci Energies UK has acquired a rival firm in Derbyshire.

The Solihull-based business says it has strengthened its industrial automation offering with the acquisition of Ilkeston outfit AND Automation.

The undisclosed buyout will enhance the existing services offered by Vinci's group company Actemium which provides electrical engineering design, project management and installation services in the UK.

AND Automation's services include the design and integration of industrial automation, supervisory control and data acquisition and reporting systems and controls.

Its main market sectors include food and beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical and energy from waste.

Rochdi Ziyat, chief executive of Vinci Energies UK and Ireland, said: "We are delighted to welcome AND Automation into our group and are convinced that this is a significant milestone for both companies.

"This added-value expertise is a key asset, strengthening our Actemium UK offering and enabling us to operate at the core process of our customers by building and improving their production facilities. We look forward to a successful relationship together."

AND Automation was formed in 2002 and also has offices in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Northampton.

It has 47 staff and annual turnover of more than £5 million.
