Contracts with the likes of IBM and the Highways Agency have helped city technology firm SCC Group to post a 9.5 per cent rise in sales.

The firm, owned by multi-millionaire Sir Peter Rigby, revealed total revenues of £1.74 billion last year, after growing sales at home and abroad.

The results were the first posted since the firm sold distribution arm Specialist Distribution Group (SDG) to TechData for £220 million to focus on cloud computing.

UK datacentre and cloud revenues rose by 69 per cent, with contracts with Gist, Aggregate Industries, BOC, IBM, Oxford Council, CAA and Highways Agency adding more than £50 million of contract value to the Tyseley-based firm, which employs about 6,000 people.

James Rigby, SCC’s chief executive, said the results show the focus on cloud computing was showing results.

He said: “The services wins secured represent our best achievements and we are grateful for customers entrusting in our vision and approach to the market. I am particularity pleased with our outstanding growth in Cloud services. Looking to the next fiscal year and on the back of our best ever year of services wins, SCC is positioned strongly to continue its evolution through on-going organic investment and acquisitive growth.”

From a domestic perspective, SCC UK revenues grew by 13 per cent to £751 million.

Group earnings before tax, depreciation and amortisation grew by 93 per cent to £32 million, with the UK business accounting for £17.1 million.

Mr Rigby said SCC’s professional services business benefited from customers migrating away from Windows XP, with new contracts agreed with the lifes of Eurostar, Aldermore Bank, BOC, United Utilities, and Babcock.

Meanwhile, the firm’s managed services business secured deals with Mitie, CMS Cameron McKenna, BOC, TUI, Konica Minolta, Volac, National Trust, CSC, Messier Dowty, Price Forbes, Nissan and British Airways.

SCC’s revenue growth came after increased income from across Europe.

SCC France enjoyed further revenue growth of five per cent to £846 million and SCC Romania saw revenues increase by 72 per cent.

However SCC Spain saw a five per cent decline in revenue to £40 million.

SCC completed the acquisition of M2 managed print services in February 2014. It is anticipated this business will grow to £50 million and 30,000 managed devices by the end of 2015, positioning SCC as the leading independent managed print provider.
