Birmingham Hippodrome pantomime star ventriloquist Paul Zerdin was celebrity guest at Birmingham Press Club’s annual Christmas lunch, held at the theatre’s Patrick Centre.
Attended by 100 guests, the event raised just under £1,000 – which was subsequently matched by a donation from lunch sponsor Barclays – for children’s Ward 11 at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Northfield.
Guests also donated gifts to young patients on the ward, which were later distributed together with a television set, video games, toys and other gifts funded by Barclays employees.
