Opus at Cornwall Street celebrated its first 10 years in business with a party.

Toasting a decade of independence and being at the heart of Birmingham city centre dining, guests were treated to a champagne reception, hand-carved Paddock Farm pork, Aubrey Allen Tomahawk beef rolls and delicious dishes against a background of live music from funk and soul band Ma Brown’s Groove Box.

To finish, the restaurant’s celebration cake, designed and baked as a gift to Opus by culinary arts students at University College Birmingham, was served to guests along with cupcakes to take home.

Ann Tonks, managing director at Opus, said: “We wanted our customers, suppliers, friends, family and colleagues to join us to celebrate our first 10 years, and what a party we had.

“Ten years ago, Opus created a destination niche in the centre of Birmingham’s financial quarter. Today, we are proud to have helped fashion a vibrant culinary scene with a focus on quality and independence at the very heart of our city.

“We have expanded, even in the midst of recession, to bring our ingredient-led philosophy, fuelled by a passion for market fresh, to three venues in the city, and our team of 40 has become more like a family to us. It was such a pleasure to be able to share this evening with those who have supported us.”
