A new US-style bourbon diner is opening in Birmingham’s business quarter.

Birmingham-based bar operator Bitters ‘n Twisted Venues has announced plans to launch Buffalo & Rye on Bennetts Hill in October amid a £150,000 investment.

The business currently operates eight venues in the region and the latest will sit next to Bodega bar and restaurant , also a Bitters ‘n Twisted venues, at Burne Jones House.

The diner will seat up to 50 people and offer range of rye whiskeys and the very best in dirty burgers, gourmet hotdogs and smoked pitt meats, including ribs and beef brisket.

Bitters ‘n Twisted founder and director Matt Scriven said: “We’re very excited about the launch of Buffalo & Rye, which you could describe as a bourbon diner. Our ethos is all about bringing something different, whilst making it right for the city. We don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach and we make sure that our ideas are right for our customers.

“We are proud to have created a group of venues that are fuelling the spirit of quality independence in the Midlands.”

Mr Scriven said Buffalo & Rye would have a “stripped back, urban” feel with a focus on bringing an authentic taste of Americana to the city.

He promised it would not be “tacky Americana”, adding: “Nor are we spending a million pounds trying to impress people, but we aim to create a laid back US vibe with that Bitters ‘n Twisted edge.”

Mr Scriven founded Bitters ‘n Twisted Venues in 2006. It operates eight venues across Birmingham and the West Midlands including, Bodega, The Victoria, Island Bar, The Jekyll & Hyde and The Rose Villa Tavern and employs 170 people.

The latest venture continues a theme of former bank buildings becoming bars and restaurants, as shown in the gallery below.
