A Sutton Coldfield industrial equipment company has expanded its group with the acquisition of a firm in Wiltshire.

Lifting equipment specialist Lloyds British Testing has bought Swindon Lifting Gear as part of its ongoing plans to expand within the UK and overseas.

Swindon Lifting Gear, which specialises in the supply, inspection, testing and hire of lifting equipment, was founded 25 years ago and counts Honda and The National Trust among its clients.

The acquisition will mean the addition of a new team for Lloyds British Testing in the south, headed by Paul Storrar and which will include specialist project management and local engineers.

Regional director for the south Ryan White said he believed the acquisition reinforced the company's dominance in the UK equipment lifting equipment sector and expected the deal to lead to further business growth through improved regional coverage.

"The new location is of prime importance and will allow us to give our customers greater support, while enabling our expansion across the M4 Corridor, particularly into Bristol, Oxford, Swindon and Reading," he added.

"Overall, the acquisition is part of a continued drive for expansion in the UK, and we are all excited to join forces with such a successful business with 25 years of strong customer relationships."

Lloyds British Testing is based in Four Oaks and employs around 350 people with an annual turnover in excess of £20 million.
