Lloyds Bank Commercial has secured a new agreement with Tamworth Borough Council which will see the provision of ongoing banking facilities across all of the local authority's services.

Established following a competitive tender process, the new partnership follows the end of the council's relationship with its previous banking provider.

The move will contribute to achieving savings for the council which serves 77,000 people.

Lloyds Bank's specialist education, government and communities team delivered the new arrangement and will work closely with the council to provide a fully tailored service.

Jatinder Dhaliwal, relationship director at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: "We recognise the importance of the public sector to the local economy and the valuable support our industry expertise can have when helping to guide councils like Tamworth Borough through the decision making process.

"Working with local authorities is not a one-size-fits-all process. We will be working closely with Tamworth Borough Council to ensure we provide tailored and valuable support to the authority."

Coun Rob Pritchard, deputy leader of Tamworth Borough Council, added: "Lloyds Bank stood out during the tender process, particularly because of its electronic banking facilities.

"We are looking to encourage customers to pay by direct debit and to use our council tax and benefits services online, as we look to shift more customers online."
