Health and well-being group BHSF has announced the acquisition of Nexus Healthcare.

This is the eighth such purchase by Edgbaston-based BHSF since 2012 and now gives its occupational health division nationwide coverage.

BHSF's roots trace back to the formation of the Birmingham Hospital Saturday Fund in 1873 and it offers health insurance and brokerage services, employee benefits, occupational health and HR support services to clients.

Nexus Healthcare was formed in 2005 and provides occupational health services from its base in London.

The business is currently headed by founder Steven Sperber who will remain with BHSF following the undisclosed acquisition.

BHSF group chief executive Peter Maskell said: "We are very pleased to have acquired such a successful business which will strengthen our occupational health proposition and give us greater presence in the marketplace especially in London and the South East.

"Initially, Nexus will be a subsidiary of BHSF Occupational Health which is headed by managing director Philip McCrea."

No redundancies are expected as a result of the deal.
