The top 50 places to work in the country have been revealed - and the list features numerous Birmingham employers.

HomeServe, based in Walsall, scooped third place, beating off competition from the likes of Unilever, Google and the BBC.

Nando's - which is on the hunt for an assistant manager for one of its Birmingham restaurants - also featured in the annual list, compiled by Glassdoor.

The travel company Expedia has been ranked number one according to the jobs website, which ranks businesses with more than 1,000 employees according to feedback received over the past year.

The survey analysed input from thousands of users, who were asked to rate how satisfied they were with their job overall, the performance of their chief executive, work-life balance and the benefits available to employees.

Expedia was given a 4.3 rating out of 5, narrowly beating ARM Holdings, a microchip company.

Homeserve UK, an emergency care and home insurer, achieved a 4.3 rating too - with feedback including: "It's an exciting, dynamic, growing company. The focus on customers and employees, makes it impossible for you not to thrive here (unless you don't want to thrive, of course)."

Greg Reed, Chief Marketing Officer at HomeServe said: “For us at HomeServe, being named by Glassdoor as one of the top three best places to work in the UK is really special.

"Over the last three years, we have been on an incredible journey and have worked tirelessly to create an exceptional culture, one which is based on a really simple philosophy: you take care of your people, they will take care of your customers and the rest will take care of itself.

"Best of all, it’s a culture that every single person in our company is proud to be a part of.”

Jaguar Land Rover narrowly missed out on the top 20, with other Birmingham employers, including Lush, Starbucks and Costa Coffee, also included.

"This really helps job seekers identify the best places to work in the UK," said Glassdoor's head of international jobs, Diarmuid Russell.

Mr Russell added: "Employers where we employees love to work continue to prove that they have a recruiting and business performance edge."
