The task of finding occupiers for the new grade A office space at The Mailbox has been handed to Birmingham-based property consultancy GBR Phoenix Beard.

The agency will work with CBRE to secure tenants for the new space which is being developed as part of the wider, £50 million revamp of the boutique shopping centre.

Brockton Capital acquired the complex with Milligan for £127.1 million in 2011 and has been carrying whole the renovation since summer 2013.

Alongside a new and larger Harvey Nichols store, a glass roof, cinema and host of new retail units, The Mailbox will also have 50,000 sq ft of new office space - believed to be the city's largest ever commercial accommodation on a single floorplate.

The office space, which will be ready for occupation in the autumn, will feature a dedicated reception, open glass atrium, full-height glazing, far-reaching city views and an opportunity to utilise a mezzanine area as part of the layout.

Simon Samuels from Brockton Capital said: "These offices represent a prime opportunity for occupiers to be located in the heart of one of Birmingham's most vibrant mixed-use destinations and we want to ensure that we are fully exploring conversations with possible occupiers from all sectors.

"To that end, we have brought specialist office agent GBR Phoenix Beard on board and, together with CBRE, we have two market-leading agents in place with the extensive experience and industry knowledge required to find the right occupiers for this statement office space.

Among The Mailbox's incumbent tenants are the BBC, Network Rail and Associated Architects.
