Birmingham IT firm acquired by Arden Group

Coventry group makes third acquisition in the space of 18 months as it aims to boost its roster of services

Birmingham-based IT support specialist Computerworld Business Solutions has been acquired by Arden Group.

Coventry-based Arden is a business telecommunications firm and this latest undisclosed deal is its third acquisition in the past 18 months.

The deal will increase Arden's portfolio of services by adding IT support to its roster.

The buyout of Edgbaston-based Computerworld Business Solutions is part of Arden's aims to deliver a more integrated network service which it said had been driven by demand from customers for a single provider of communication technology.

The purchase follows on from the acquisitions of IT companies Page IT and Unitycom.

Royal Bank of Scotland's corporate transactions team provided Arden with an undisclosed funding deal to support the acquisition and the firm's future growth.

Arden Group's managing director Nigel Walker said: "The acquisition of Computerworld Business Solutions represents an important milestone in our growth strategy.

"As a well-established and successful business, Computerworld Business Solutions gives us the chance to boost our service offering for customers, to deliver a fully converged IT and telecoms solution.

"With the combined strength of the two companies, our in-house resource, knowledge and capability, we are confident this partnership will enable us to play a more defining role in the growth of our shared customer base.

"The support that we have received from Royal Bank of Scotland throughout the acquisition process has been excellent and will enable us to continue to focus on growth and achieving our corporate objectives."

David Jamieson, director at the RBS corporate transactions team, added: "Arden Group has grown organically since inception and this recent funding package has helped them to enhance their service offering and combine the strengths of the two IT technology companies.

"They have an innovative management team who focus on identifying suitable acquisitions that will allow them to increase their client base and enable further growth across the group.

"We are delighted to support Nigel and his team at Arden Group, a long standing customer of the bank."
