A Birmingham charity focusing on helping those suffering from head and neck disease has raised a landmark figure of £6million thanks to a recent fundraising ball.

Get Ahead, based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, hosted their annual Grand Ball and were able to raise £60,000 with the help of the 600 guests in attendance.

Among the attendees at the event were patrons of the charity Dr Hilary Jones and Lord Digby Jones with entertainment from TV comedienne and ventriloquist Nina Conti, Gary Priestly and the Prime-Time Orchestra and the evening’s host Mike Osman.

Celebrating its 20th year as a charity, Get Ahead has been involved in a wide variety of fundraising activities, most notably raising funds for the Cyber-Knife unit opened in 2013, which provides greater accuracy when delivering radiotherapy to its patients.
