Birmingham Press Club’s annual Midlands Media Awards, acknowledging the achievements of the region’s top journalists, photographers, broadcasters and bloggers, were held at The Holte Suite, Villa Park.

The coveted Newspaper of the Year accolade was won for the first time by the Derby Telegraph, with Editor Neil White receiving his award from Jo Lloyd, Marketing Director of Birmingham Airport, which was headline sponsor.

Three hundred guests attended the awards, which were also supported by Barclays Bank – which provided the Barclays Premier League Trophy for photo-opportunities - Birmingham City University, Bournville College, Digital Imaging, Drayton Manor Theme Park, Ember Television and Staffordshire University

This year the awards, organised on behalf of the Press Club by Cloud 9 Event Management, attracted a record entry of 320.
