Lincoln University’s Natasha Turney was crowned Journalism Student of the Year at Birmingham Press Club’s inaugural Midlands Media Student Awards. She received her award from BBC Midlands Today presenter Mary Rhodes , herself a former journalism student at what is now Birmingham City University,

Natasha’s award-winning entry, “Death of a Clown,” was a 10-minute film about the difficult times faced by people who run circuses and those who work in them.

The awards, launched to recognise the emerging talent of next-generation journalists and broadcasters, were organised by Cloud 9 Event Management as part of Birmingham Press Club’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

Held at The Studio, Birmingham, they attracted more than 110 entries from media students throughout the East and West Midlands.
